The Stages of Good Haircare

Share

Incomplete and inconsistent haircare is a very common mistake. That’s why many people have a whole warehouse of jars at home, which for some reason does not turn their hair into a chic and shiny canvas.

We caught up with the team at Colorista Ladies Salon in Abu Dhabi to get their top three recommended stages in haircare: Nutrition, Moisturise, and Recovery…

NUTRITION

Hair nutrition is understood as saturation of the hair with lipids that envelop the cuticle. That is, the oils that many diligently rub in are nutrients for the hair.

MOISTURISE

Moisturisers include two types of components: to retain and attract moisture.

For example, one molecule of hyaluronic acid can hold up to 500 water molecules and perfectly attracts moisture from the air. Hyaluronic acid is effective even at low concentrations. Film formers and silicones also help retain moisture. And, by the way, porous hair does not hold moisture.

How to fix it?

The answer is easy: a comprehensive approach to haircare. Damaged hair needs repair! Keratin also helps to retain moisture. And another point - emulsifiers often have, for example, moisturising properties.

RECOVERY

The restoring components include hydrolysed proteins: keratin, soy proteins, and wheat. It is hydrolysed proteins that are smaller molecules that can penetrate the hair. And that is why it is useless to rub egg white or, say, cottage cheese into hair - the molecules in them are too large.

What else is important to know about recovery?

It is not necessary for all hair types. It does not make sense to use restorative products for owners of healthy or virgin hair that has not seen curling irons or ironing. Moreover, if you have shampoo, conditioner, mask, and spray all with keratin, then most likely your hair will quickly become coarse, because it is TOO MUCH!

And lastly…

Not always, if the mask says "moisturising" is it really moisturising. Unfortunately, it may well be that in the composition you will not find a single component necessary for this! Therefore, our advice: if you are looking for a mask with a specific effect, do not be lazy, turn the jar over and look at the composition!
