Blue hair will always be on trend, it’s a staple in every colourist’s repertoire. It’s made modern and relevant by shaking up the shade, the tone, and the colour combinations. Caring for the hair means it fades to a beautiful blue, so it’s essential clients use professional homecare products.
Charlotte’s top tips for maintaining blue hair
- Trending blues right now are denim-inspired shades, 70's retro tones, and darker blues which are almost metallic. 2022 is going to be a big year for blue!
- Always wash hair in cool water to help prolong the life of blue hair. The hotter the water, the more it will fade.
- When pre-lightening the hair, try to achieve the cleanest blonde possible with minimal yellow, as when blue is applied to hair that is not lifted enough, we know blue plus yellow makes green! Getting the perfect shade of blonde is essential and the key to the perfect blue. Blues have been hard to achieve in the past and almost impossible to remove, but with advanced technology, the (blue)sky really is the limit!
