Pop & Play Catwalk Look

Cut by Nick Irwin

“It’s the texture that elevates and modernises the entire aesthetic. Therefore, in my work I focus so much on the nuance, the finer details. This is a classic reinvented, super precise, clean cutting technique to create the shape, then deconstructed by this awkward, slept-in texture which really channels the individual’s spirit.

“This look is all about that root, that centimetre or so of regrowth I have maintained just transposes this look to an entirely different place. It grounds the look, giving it a fresher attitude. This ensures it fits perfectly with the haircut and vibe of today’s trends.”

Pop & Play Salon Look

“It’s the same aesthetic running through the entire trend, but this is infinitely more wearable. It’s longer, more grown out, less stationary. Overall, it feels much more accessible to a client. Taking away the weight is powerful; it allows the hair to really move and breathe. Always start this process at the front, creating visual guidelines, instantly redefining your client’s look in the early stages.”

“This is when you can really use colour to make a statement. In terms of the red, I wanted to go for a cherry tone and keep some depth to give it a high fashion edge, then I dragged the root. This serves both to give the hair more attitude, but also increase wearability versus the catwalk interpretation, which makes it commercially viable.”
