Don’t Let the Cold Weather Affect your Nails

Share

With the help of Protein Formula products and top tips from Robbie Tomkins, celebrity manicurist, your hands and nails will be well-looked after this Winter.

Robbie says, “File regularly to avoid cracking and flaking on the free edge of your nails. It may sound obvious but when the temperature drops, cover up and protect your hands. Give them a fighting chance at staying supple and soft by investing in a good pair of warm or thermal gloves when venturing outdoors in cold weather.”

Tip: Use a file such as Protein’s Crystal Nail File (£10.95)

“Moisturization is key!” says Robbie. “The constant move from warm to cold dehydrates the hands and nails and sometimes causes sensitivity as well as cracked skin and nails. Protein Formula has a beautifully fresh-scented unisex hydrating hand cream, Enriched Hand Cream (40ml £9.95 / 75ml £15.95), which is heavy enough to provide long-lasting moisture but absorbs quickly enough for you to get on with the task at hand.”

If your facing nail issues, such as dryness or peeling, that are worsened during the colder months, Robbie recommends, “Keep nails covered and protected, even if this is just a clear coat of nail strengthener such as Protein’s Strengthen treatment (£14.95). At this time of year, you want to keep hold of the natural oils present in skin and nails so covering nails especially helps with the retention of these precious oils. One of Protein Formula’s treatments, Maintain (£14.95), has also been formulated to help maintain moisture levels for those lucky ones who may not have damaged nails but want to maintain what they have.”
