Carol Ritchie Occasion Hair Trends

Share

2022 has been the year of the wedding, and while hair may have taken on a more subtle, effortless feel, it’s still an important part of the day.

According to Matrix Artist Ambassador, Carol Ritchie, texture and natural curls have been embraced by brides and bridesmaids who want a more natural look on their big day. Here she looks at the trends to expect this autumn.

Natural texture

We will be seeing oversized hair accessories, the bigger the better, including ornate hair accessories from headbands to clips and detailed embellished veils. In recent years a lot of our brides have done away with veils so therefore we will be seeing a major come back – as seen on Nicola Peltz at her wedding to Brooklyn Beckham.

Face framing

This is a twist on your classic look with lots of texture into a bun. With occasion hair a lot of our brides or proms like a loose and undone style, but it still must be structured and smooth. Leaving out a few pieces around the face and hairline gives this look.

Beautiful boho

This is one of my personal favourites as it looks so effortless. Half up half down and airy, a beachy wave with a twist or a three-strand boho braid or a fishtail incorporating floral pieces.

Centre Part

Natural long and down, this is a combination taking inspiration from the red carpet. This is where the symmetrical look with a middle part has sprung from, this part suits all face shapes and gives a symmetrical illusion to all face shapes. Also bringing it into a tousled look with a braid or a twist intertwined, this is where you may have to introduce some hair extensions just for the day.

Ponytails

You will be seeing a lot of high and low ponytails, again with small added touches of a twist or a braid or face framing piece. Sleek and curly ponytails are such a timeless style that look stunning but also keep the hair out of the way for the day, so you can keep it classic and sleek or go all out boho.

Tips for putting a bridal menu together

  1. Look at what styles are being predicted and on trend for the summer, then create a mood board and offer a visual or digital version.
  2. Pick out 4 to 6 styles you want to recreate and make up your own collection to showcase on social media and in the salon to your clients, it’s always great to show your own work.
